31st October- 1st November, Beginning of Winter.
This marks the end of the farming year as the last of the harvest- apples and berries- are brought in, along with the cattle for over winter.
Now becomes a time of contemplation and meditation. The pace has slowed as one cycles comes to an end, which allows us the time to consider our plans for the future.
A time that acknowledges the end of things, death and those who have passed over, is countered by the prospect of new life and beginnings in the seeds we store and plans we make.
The Goddess sits by her cauldron, the Crone, bringing foresight, divination and transformation. Converting the old into the new.
The God descends into the Shadowland, seen in the turning of the leaves and the cut corn. He becomes the leader of the Wild Hunt guiding lost and reluctant souls to pass through the Veil- which is at its thinnest at this time. He rides through the night with his pack of red-eared hunting dogs.
Eventually he becomes the Lord of Shadows, coming to rest with his Queen in the Shadowlands.
