Yule
20th-23rd December, Winter Solstice.
The shortest day and the longest night, although some may consider this the darkest of times. Yule is a sign of hope and promise of longer days to come.
The God and Goddess are renewed with the return of the Sun, reborn as their childish forms filled with the promise of the future, green leaves of hope.
The Oak King wins over the Holly King, the waning of the year transitions into the waxing year. The time of the wren- linked to the Holly King- gives wat to the robin- associated with the Oak King.
Not only is the Goddess reborn as the Maiden alongside the God. The Crone meditates on the past year, contemplating the future.
Yule is the time to start planting the seeds of the new year, new journeys and ventures to come. We have drawn our energy close in the winter months, is the time to refocus it into the kernels and seeds that will grow in the coming spring.
