The Wood
“Can’t see the wood for the trees.” Is a phrase that suggests you can’t see the bigger picture because you are focused on the details.
The Trees are the individuals which make up The Woods, the community.
Each is dependent on the other, as you can’t have The Wood without The Trees. But The Trees benefit from the Wood. In the Natural World trees communicate with each other, sharing nutrients and sending warnings to each other. Much like humans, trees can survive on their own, but it can be much harder and nearly impossible under some conditions.
Its important to note that it is rare for natural woodlands to be made up of purely one tree species. Diversity is important for survival, in much the same way the variety and uniqueness of individuals is important for a community to survive. When you play to individual strengths a community is more likely to flourish.
When The Wood appears for you it asks you to consider where you fir in the bigger picture. Is there something you can offer to those around you? Or is there something you need to ask of your community?
Both need each other in order to flourish.
